Amnesty International Human Rights Centre Trip

On February 21st a group of year 12 Human Rights students and Amnesty International youth members were given the opportunity to visit the UK’s Amnesty Centre to learn more about the organisation and take part in a recent campaign for the Saudi Arabian ban on female drivers.

The difference between a book, a film, and what I prefer

Both a book and a film will tell a story, yet through different perspectives. Most films are based on books, and are generally less detailed because of their limited screen time. On the other hand, books only contain a silent language and room of imagination whilst a film director can present his or her perception of the story in moving images (with the use of attractive actors to aid the ticket sales, of course.)

“You’re sounding more and more like a ‘Tory everyday!”

Despite the fact that we are only a few weeks into the new term, a handful of 6th Form History students have already participated in a vigorous debate with two very opinionated MPs; Glenda Jackson and Pauline Latham – whilst on the Parliament Trip in London last month. On the trip we were able to tour both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, before becoming involved in what was supposed to be a debate on the topic of ‘international aid and development’, but after severely drifting away from the supposed topic, we ended up arguing about university fees and MP expenses.

20p: Worth More than a Pound

No, it’s not some strange drinking game concocted by us raucous sixth formers to pass the long hours of our education, its merely your everyday form of humiliation at the loss of an all important (as every round is) match of table football.
